Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructors teaches you the skills you need to become a certified lifeguard.
Prerequisite Swimming:
- Must be at least 15 years of age by the end of the course.
- Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. May swim front crawl or breaststroke. Swim goggles allowed.
- Must tread water for 2 minutes using only legs.
- Must swim 20 yards, dive 7 feet, retrieve a 10lb brick, return on your back to the starting point keeping the brick above water, and exit the pool within 1 minute 40 seconds.
If you are planning to work for PARA this summer, you must have submitted a PARA Employment Application to receive the class for only $100.

Please stop by the pool and practice before class. It is free to practice at any Para pool if you are enrolled in Lifeguard Training.
